When I feel like wearing something preppy, put together, but still casual, I always turn to denim.

Tie dye keeps things from getting too stuffy. Although I already featured a tie dye scarf look on Monday, this one's slightly different.

For this look the scarf essentially takes the place of a statement necklace - a little different but just as preppy and cute. All you have to do is twist the scarf and then wrap it twice around your neck, pretty tightly so that it almost forms a turtleneck. Then tie it and let the ends drape down for a pretty flowy effect.

Paper bag shorts and flatforms complete this preppy look.

Don't forget your splash of color, in this case, yellow.

Neutrals for the Spring/Summer are one of my favorite trends. The look is clean, fresh, and girly. And when you pair light neutrals with color, the color just becomes even more amazing.

Today's tie dye comes in the form of a beautiful scarf with colors that transition easily from Summer to Fall so that you can wear it all year round - the best kind of scarf in my opinion.

Tie dye scarves are my favorite because there's so many colors and if you find a nice big one, the possibilities are endless. Use it as a swim suit coverup, a blanket, or even a small beach towel to sit on if you're really desperate!

I kept the other colors in my outfit neutral so that the look would would still be warm weather appropriate and also so the scarf would stand out!

A turquoise stone ring instantly makes any look summer appropriate.

A bag in a color that can be found on the scarf will help pull the look together.

Tie dye is one trend that always pops up during the Summer.

Although I've never embraced it before, I can't seem to get enough of it this year.

It all started with this tie dye headband that I picked up about a month ago. I've been wearing it non stop with any and all casual outfits.

The easiest way to test the tie dye waters is with denim and lighter colored print. Denim plays well with everything.

Tie dye in a small dose isn't so scary and lets you slowly ease into the trend.

I can feel Summer already.

I actually first learned of Jurlique from my mom. She's been a long time fan of the Rosewater Balancing Mist. After borrowing her bottle over a month ago because I ran out of my beloved Caudalie Beauty Elixir I fell in love and wanted to try more from Jurlique. I'm not sure why I hadn't jumped on this brand earlier as they don't test on animals and use high quality, natural ingredients.

For the last couple of weeks, I've been using four products from the line and so I thought I'd do a review for those of you who might be interested in the brand!

Jurlique Citrus Hand Cream

The Jurlique Citrus Hand Cream is definitely a luxury hand cream. It's creamy, rich, and leaves the hands feeling soft but not greasy. The light citrus scent is perfect for Spring and Summer and the tube is a great size to throw in your bag. Although I've loved this hand cream, I'm not sure that I would repurchase after I finish this tube. It's an expensive hand cream ($25 for 1.4 oz) that just gets used up too quickly. This is one of those products that I love and would purchase if I felt like splurging on myself, but for everyday use, I'd say that you can get the same results with the L'occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream ($28 for 5.2 oz) my holy grail hand cream for the last three years and still going strong! But for those of you who want to try something new or are looking for something to splurge on, the Jurlique hand creams are definitely worth trying also comes in Rose & Lavender scents.

Jurlique Herbal Recovery Gel

The Jurlique Herbal Recovery Gel is a soothing antioxidant serum to help comfort delicate skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines, dryness, and dullness. This serum has a light gel texture that quickly absorbs into the skin upon contact. I haven't used it long enough to decide whether it has helped with fine lines but it has definitely helped my skin appear more plump and radiant. I love using it at night with some sort of a moisturizing oil over it; you'll wake up with an amazing glow!

Jurlique Love Balm in Rose

Okay, I am seriously IN LOVE with this product. I literally CANNOT be without this. It's advertised as an all purpose salve that moisturizes, softens, and protects dry or chapped skin. This balm also comes in the original scent which is a light citrus scent. At first I tried this as a lip balm, which is how I think most people use it. I thought it was okay as a lip balm, nothing too amazing. The life changing moment happened when I ran out of cuticle oil. My cuticles always get very dry so I always make sure I give them a little extra moisture throughout the day. I tried this balm as a cuticle moisturizer and I fell in love. This balm kept my cuticles soft, moisturized, and healthy. Once during the day and once at night did the trick! My cuticles are more groomed, don't need any pushing back, and stay moisturized. Plus the light rose scent is beautiful. At just $6.50 a tin, I've picked up a few more so that I can leave one next to my bed, one at work, and one in the bathroom. I seriously can't live without this!

Jurlique Soothing Foaming Cleanser

This cleanser is great for those who have dry or sensitive skin. The Groomwell and Sichuan Peppercorn help to soothe and rebalance skin while the Macadamia oil helps with dryness. I love to use this in the morning since it's milky, gentle, and leaves the skin feeling clean but not a tight squeaky clean. I don't like to use very harsh or deep cleansers in the morning as there isn't really a need for it. No dirt, dust, or pollution has collected on the face over night so I stick to something gentle that gets rid of the night's oils and remaining product without completely stripping the skin. This Jurlique cleanser is great for that purpose and I definitely recommend it to those who need a morning cleanser or those with sensitive or dry skin.

Now I'm not sure that I would wear graphic tees to work on a daily basis, however once in a while it's fun to be a little bolder and wear one on casual Friday.

Yes, this is the same striped blazer I wore last week. My striped blazer is an all time closet staple if you haven't realized yet.

For the rest of the look I wanted to keep the colors in the same family so I settled on an emerald skirt and mint accessories.

Navy blue heels to pull everything together.

Graphic tees, especially vintage graphics, are so trendy in my mind. They seem to just up the hip factor for everything else that you wear with it.

Today I'm wearing my nerdy cat cropped again but this time I'm going to show some skin.

White rimmed retro glasses keep the sun out of your eyes and go purrr-fectly with the look ok sorry that was lame but I had to do it.

Nothing pops the way yellow does and you can do no harm with an army green jacket and acid wash jeans.

I love pulling out my graphic tees and tanks for the Summer. They're so fun and believe it or not, they can be dressed up or down.

I always try to buy graphic tees in a slightly larger size. My cat muscle tee is actually a size large. This makes it much more versatile, I can knot it for a cropped look or leave it unknotted for my favorite pair of faux leather leggings.

For a casual graphic tee look, I like to keep the rest of my outfit on the simple side with just a denim vest and neutral maxi. The accessories are what keep the tee cool and hip.

Finish off with your comfiest sandals and your favorite bright colored purse.

Graphic tees will quickly become your best friend too.

A navy and white striped cotton blazer can be hard to wear for a night out. Luckily when it's dark outside, dark blue looks like black. Which means you can totally get away with wearing the blazer over your night time blacks!

And that's exactly what I did. I busted out my favorite black sequin dress and boldly threw this navy and white blazer over it, but you can't even tell it's navy.

We went out last night for this one's birthday and I decided to try my hand at being the photographer.

We both decided that I better just stick to being the blogger. I opted for a plain black belt to cinch in my waist just a tad. And black heels with studs on the back seemed to add the perfect amount of edge to my sparkly dress.

All in all, we had a great time at dinner and this blazer did well on its night out! Thank you all for the kind comments and birthday wishes on my last post! to the one behind the pictures

I started this blog with no intentions for it to go anywhere, it was just something to keep me busy in the interim between finishing school and starting work. I called Andrew one morning and told him about this new adventure I had finally decided to embark on I had been reading fashion blogs since college and always wanted to start one but never had the time. Like all things, he immediately offered to help.

I was skeptical about Andrew's photography skills and I had good reason to be. Getting just one picture where the body looked naturally cropped at the waist instead of painfully amputated at the hands was like trying to pull out the most stubborn of your wisdom teeth.

But when I told Andrew that I seriously wanted to do this, he told me that he seriously wanted to be my photographer. Hours of work went into learning how to take the pictures that he takes for me today. He's visited more blogs than I ever have, studying each picture's composition, angle, and lighting. He's read forums, visited camera shops, and browsed catalogues. He even taught me how to pose.

Fashion blog photographers can sometimes be forgotten amidst all the sequins, polka dots, and stilettos. But without them, there would be no blog. Even I sometimes forget how lucky I am to have someone who has learned a whole new skill just for me.

He's patiently behind the camera retaking a picture for the 20th time because my one strand of hair was out of place, he's not afraid of getting parallel to the ground to get the perfect shot of my shoes, and he has always been there to gently remind me how far we've come when I've felt like quitting. Fashion blogging isn't easy but being a fashion blogger's photographer definitely requires something special.

So today, on this tiny plot of the internet that you've helped me create, I wanted to say Happy Birthday Andrew. I notice the way you hold your breath until the picture is taken to make sure you're perfectly still, I see the sweat dripping down your face when we've been shooting under the sun, and I know that you have one weathered knee from all the rocks, dirt, and concrete that its met I wish you'd just wear a knee pad.

Without you, this blog wouldn't be what it is today. I know I may not always be the easiest to work with but thank you from the deepest place in my heart for being my photographer, my boyfriend, and my best friend.

Stripes are so easy to incorporate into a preppy look. However for this look, I wanted to stick with lighter, muted colors for a lighter Spring look.

We start with our good friend, the chambray shirt.

It's hard to come by mauve shorts, but always count on Gap to give you what you can't find! Mauve and chambray always make me feel like I'm about to go on some cruise or picnic; it's the perfect combination for Spring. I know that in addition to denim on denim, I've been recently going crazy for nude accessories. But I have to say that light grey is starting to grow on me! I've never paid much attention to it and I can't figure out why, but better late than never. A striped blazer breaks up all the solids, so of course we've got to throw that over everything.

Don't forget your preppy leather loafers, a big bow to make the look slightly more feminine.

Ok so I know I might be slightly guilty of a denim on denim repeat, but I can't help it. I love denim for the Spring and there's nothing better for a double dose of it!

Springtime With Coach :: Legacy Rory Satchel Review & What's In My Bag

I know you're curious.

As you've probably realized by now, I've been in love with my new Coach Legacy Rory Satchel in nude! The color is perfect for Spring and it fits everything I need for work and play! I wanted to do a review of this bag because I love it so much and just in case any of you are on the hunt for a new Coach bag, or just a new bag in general! Above is what I carry with me on a daily basis. And yes, it all fits with room to spare.

From left to right:

1. Gum :: to help me stay awake while driving; I'm more of the mint type.

2. iPhone :: I love tweeting about interesting articles and funny license plates; follow me here.

3. Headphones :: Dr Dre knows how music should sound.

4. Cosmetic bag :: holds my lotion, blister block, makeup, tea - yes tea, you name it and it's in here!
5. Keys :: can't get anywhere without these.

6. Wallet & business card holder :: people always ask me for a card when I don't have one.

7. Sunglasses :: a must if you don't want wrinkles.

8. Macbook :: my favorite book.

9. Coin pouch :: froggy obviously needs to stop eating.

10. Notebook :: didn't know Moleskine made notebooks in houndstooth until I went to Target!

11. Pen :: multicolored so that I save room but still have options.

12. Book :: because I hate waiting with nothing to do but facebook and instagram.

13. Lip balm :: The Body Shop's strawberry lip balm was my high school favorite and they now have it in tube form!

This bag has seriously been going everywhere with me. It's replaced my beloved red Longchamp that I use for work and I have no regrets. The leather feels thick and buttery, almost like the Coach Classic leathers. Although it's fairly structured and maintains its shape very well when full, it slouches in all the right places when carried. Although I've been lugging it from the office, to court, to dinner after work, there are virtually no signs of wear granted I've only had it for about a week but no scratches, no clothes color transfer, nothing. The leather has softened up a bit, which I like, but other than that it appears still brand new!

I love how this bag comes with leather tassels in addition to the traditional Coach hang tag. The tassels make the bag feel more modern and a bit younger. Did you know that Coach actually sells the Tassel key rings and they're $38 on their own? I'm definitely happy that this bag came with two!

On the back of the bag, there is a roomy zip pocket. I usually like when the front of my bag has at least one pocket so that I can store my essentials in there for easy access. After trying out this back pocket thing for a week, I'm officially a back pocket fan. It keeps the front of your bag looking simple and clean but still gives you the ability to keep your essentials close to hand. This pocket surprised me because from the outside it appeared to be very shallow looks can be deceiving but when I started putting my stuff in, things just kept disappearing! My planner and pen were able to fit vertically with some room left over on top - awesome!

Another thing that I love about this bag is that the shoulder strap is adjustable/removable. This allows you to wear the bag in 3 different ways - on your arm, as a tote with shoulder strap on longest setting, or as a shoulder bag with shoulder strap on shortest setting. The quality of the strap, just like the bag, is excellent, meaning you can use it on a daily basis without worrying the straps might fall apart.

As you can see, this bag fits quite a lot. My 13" Macbook fits completely vertical which is amazing. And then I've got a book, a notebook, my cosmetic bag, keys, gum, headphones, hand lotion, wallet, business card holder, sunglasses, and normally you'd see a snack in there as well, but I already ate it :) If you want to take a better look at what's in my bag, see the first picture of the post. I just wanted to give you all an idea of how much room is taken up/still left after I put everything in.

Spring is my favorite season to wear prints. Bright, bold patterns match the weather and just make any look that much more cheerful. In this last of my four part Spring trends series with TJ Maxx, I'll show you how I wear prints to the office, on the weekend, and at night!

I love love love mixing prints and I always feel like Spring is the best time to play with patterns. My two most favorite prints of all time are floral and stripes. Lucky for me, these two go together like salt and pepper.

A striped shirt is such a staple in my wardrobe and although I have a couple of striped tops, I couldn't help but grab this one when I spotted it on the racks at TJ Maxx. Navy stripes against white make it an instant classic, but the brown elbow patches really set it up above the rest of my striped collection. Always count on TJ Maxx to have items with the cutest details!

Although prints may not always be work appropriate, they're definitely great for a casual look. If you can't decide on which print to wear, just wear both!

When wearing prints to work, I like to try and stick with more neutral colors and conservative prints; you can never go wrong with stripes! Although lace isn't technically a print, the designs from the lace give the illusion of a pattern.

I've recently been hooked on colored lace skirts, so imagine my excitement when I walked into TJ Maxx and discovered that I could purchase the rainbow in lace skirts for a fraction of what it would have cost at a department store!

Watercolor and tie dye are two prints that are always on the top of my night owl list. They're so colorful, bold, and fun - perfect for a night out. If you're planning on wearing a dress in just one print, look for one with interesting cut outs or an uneven hem to set your dress apart from others!

Since the dress is so colorful, I decided to go with a nude belt and a nude clutch to avoid any clashing - plus, the focus ends up all on the dress. And don't forget, wearing prints doesn't have to mean a printed top or a printed dress, you can incorporate prints into your accessories too! This faux ostrich print clutch has just the right amount of texture for work or play and the color is great all the way through Fall!

So, I'll admit, this may not be the first look that pops into your head when you're looking for something to wear for a night out. It's definitely not your traditional night owl look, but it could definitely work for a casual mid-week dinner date with the girls.

Nude and denim are a must in my book. I can't pinpoint the reason as to why I love this combination so much but light denim and nude is definitely a pair to try this Spring.

My favorite part is the fact that I can lug around my trusty Coach Legacy Leather Rory Satchel even for dinner. All the denim helps to ease the structured tote out of daytime mode and into after work fun!

I recently spotted the shorts plus blazer look in a store catalogue, I can't remember which store, but it doesn't matter. I haven't stopped thinking about the look since I saw it and although I remember the catalogue look to be more casual, I thought that shorts plus a blazer was a nice change for the office during Spring and Summer.

Yes, okay, shorts can be risky sometimes to wear to work, especially if they're too short. But as long as you keep the entire outfit simple and light colored, you'll definitely look more polished than not. And of course with lighter Spring colors, you'll need a lighter colored bag, such as this Legacy Leather Rory Satchel, so as to not burden the rest of your look.

If anything, you could always try this look on Casual Friday.

I was never really someone who thought that you needed a bag in two colors, a darker for the Winter and a lighter for the Spring. But when I got my Coach Satchel in cognac two Springs ago, I almost instantly changed my mind. That bag seriously went everywhere with me. Cognac has traditionally been my Spring bag color of choice until I recently discovered nude. It's the lighter, fresher, cleaner version of cognac and I've been opting for nude over cognac in every department. That's why I've partnered up with Coach to show you my favorite ways to style the Legacy Leather Rory Satchel for Spring!

I never opted for nude because I always felt it was too stuffy, too professional. But as of late, I've been loving the lighter look paired with brights colors, prints, and graphics! The nude forces the rest of the outfit to grow up, just a little.

My favorite part about this bag is that it has both handles and shoulder straps which allow it to easily go from work to casual and vice versa. The shoulder strap keeps your hands free for those weekend shopping trips but hook the handles on your arm for a more polished weekday look!

Work Work Work

As you've probably guessed from the title of this post, this week or rather the first half of this week has been filled with work, work, and more work. Did I mention I've been non-stop working for the past two days? And what's worse, it's been serious work, so I haven't had the freedom to dress on the more casual side of office attire.

But count on me to sneak in casual wear whenever possible! I thought it would be fun to wear a crop top to work, not as a crop top obviously, but I just wanted to see if I could a) come up with a work appropriate outfit b) get away with it! And guess what, it worked!

I started the day off with the top tucked in, to hide the cute tie.

But by the end of the day, there was no hiding the tie, I just let it all hang out. Hope you all are enjoying your week & don't work too hard! In the meantime, follow me on instagram to stay updated with my day!
