Date nights and nights out can be hard to plan for when the temperature drops. In fact, I dread invitations to get dressed up at night when it's cold outside. What's come to save me on more than one night out occasion is a maxi dress or skirt. It keeps my legs warm and if things really get that chilly, I can always wear leggings underneath and no one would be the wiser, it's amazing. Staying warm on the bottom means that I'll be okay without a jacket to have to keep track of throughout the night! So if you don't have a maxi in your closet, go get one in preparation for cooler glam nights!

Chambray turns anything into a closet staple but a top with just chambray trim is sometimes even better because you can wear it with other denim pieces without worrying about whether you might look too western. A chambray trimmed piece works well with other denim pieces but looks equally as good with more sophisticated fall prints like baroque, darker florals, etc. It's a great way to lighten up the darker prints and dress down any colors or prints that might be too formal for the occasion.

I love denim button ups for the Spring and Summer, especially lighter denim. They're great as a casual jacket to throw over any Summer dress or floral Spring tank. But when the weather cools down, my preferences definitely shift towards darker denim. A dark denim dress is a cold weather must have. You can wear it on its own, wear it under a chunky sweater, or throw on a vest and some tights - there's no wrong way to wear a denim dress! The darker wash will keep the denim from feeling too Summer, it also makes the denim piece easier to dress up if you're looking for versatility.

A bright slinky skirt is a must have all year round, but I especially make sure I have one on hand during the Fall. Why? Because it brightens all the darker colors, can be worn with sweaters and boots for a girly casual look, crop tops and denim for an edgy trendy look, or even some metallics for a night out. A bright skirt is easy to wear, especially on those lazy days when you don't want to color coordinate. Just throw on a neutral color up top, some brown or black boots, and you're good to go. You'll look put together, effortlessly.

Fall is by far my favorite time of the year. Although the California weather hasn't quite cooled down enough for a complete onslaught of sweaters and boots, it's getting cool enough for me to slowly start transitioning my closet and drawers to cold weather clothes. I've so far only pulled out my Fall essentials since I only have space for the essentials, I can't put away all my Summer stuff just yet! To celebrate Fall and the season's essentials, I've teamed up with G by GUESS to show you all my fall wardrobe essentials, the first items to come out of storage and into my closet!
