Summertime BBQ Roundup With Hillshire Farm

a few of my favorites from this summer

With October rolling in, it's still hard for me to believe that Summer is already over. The great thing about living in California is that while other people are experiencing heavy rain and snow, we still get these random days of bright, sunny skies paired with perfectly warm, 80-degree weather. What better way to take advantage than to throw a late-Summertime BBQ and wear that last Summer party outfit?

Thankfully Hillshire Farm has a great promotion available at Safeway through their "Just For U" program going on right now thru Saturday 10/19. You can save $3 when you buy any three participating Hillshire Brands products - Mix & Match all you want too! Visit http://bit.ly/19ja1t4 to go to the Safeway "Just For U" website and sign up for a free account to get the Buy 3, Save 3 offer.

While barbecuing is an easy task when Andrew is around easy because I get to lounge around and relax while the food is prepared, cooking by myself is always somewhat stressful. That's why I like to use an electric grill, you know, to cut down on all that charcoal and lighter fluid mess.

Just throw some hot dogs on the grill and let them cook for a few minutes on medium-high heat. One thing I learned is to let the hot dogs grill in one place rather than constantly rolling them around. This allows you to get nice grill marks with a crispy exterior and juicy interior.

Be sure to have your buns ready too, and throw those on the grill a few minutes before the meat is done. This will give you a nice, toasty bun with a little crunch.

Of course if you're not looking for something as heavy as an entire hot dog, lil' smokies and segmented sausages serve as great finger foods. Same grilling technique here applies, so simple right? And if you're looking for something a little more intricate, check out Hillshire Farm's recipe page http://bit.ly/1bnqbpk for some cooking inspiration.

Last but not least, prepare some fruits & veggies and pour some ice cold beverages, and you've got yourself a perfect way to say good bye to Summer and hello to Fall. Cheers!

A big thank you to Hillshire Farm for sponsoring this #pmedia post, and don't miss their #Buy3Save3 offer ending this Saturday 10/19! And if you have a chance, check out their Facebook and Twitter pages for some delicious pictures and cooking tips!
