Across The Pond with Missguided :: PART TWO

I hope you all had a wonderful July 4th weekend! It's always hard getting back on track after a long weekend. I thought it would be fun to start the week off with some of my Summer essentials. This past weekend helped me realize that I needed to replenish my wardrobe with these must have items as many of my Summer essentials are worn in but also worn down.

Not too long ago I shared with all of you the trendy UK brand Missguided see post here and how I went about choosing my go to Summer festival look. However there were lots of other great pieces that caught my eye and may possibly be near future purchases for the rest of the Summer.

It's probably obvious from my first Missguided post that I love ombre for the Summer. The look is reminiscent of sunsets or the ocean obviously depending on the color of your ombre and makes me constantly feel like I'm on some tropical vacation even when I'm not. An ombre skirt or dress is one of my Summer staples that I could wear everyday. That's why while I was shopping for a Summer festival look, I naturally first gravitated towards this Missguided tie dye blue dress. It's just a simple, classic cut dress with cool colors that can be easily styled for any occasion. A denim vest and cognac fringe bag turns it into a great festival option while a colorful statement necklace and some red sandals would make it a cute brunch dress. I have a blue tie dye dress that I bought two summers ago, that I've worn to pieces, so perhaps it's time to pick up a new tie dye dress!

Another item that I had been eyeing for a Summer party or festival look was this pair of red embellished heart sunglasses. I love hearts and heart shaped sunglasses add quirk and personality to any look - for some reason they're just perfect with Summer outfits. While the flower embellished round sunglasses have been very popular this season, I haven't quite worked up enough courage to try those out yet. That's why these embellished heart sunnies were so hard to leave out of my basket. They have smaller embellishments and red heart sunglasses are so easy to wear. Wear them with a striped shirt for a nautical look or a yellow dress for a girly look, they just add that extra something to any outfit.

Mint has been 'in' for the past few Springs and Summers but I still haven't satisfied my craving for mint.   This mint oversized swing dress is the perfect Summer day lounge dress, whether you're running errands, lounging around the house, or planning to hit the beach, nothing is more comfortable and girly than a drapey, delicate dress and when it comes in mint, it's just that much better.

In the Autumn and Winter, I love to wear hats, beanies, and head bands. In the Spring and Summer it's obviously a little warm to go with too much head decoration. Instead, I try to scope out interesting bows, colorful hair ties, and just unique hair accessories in general. I've tried pony tails wraps before and loved them. If I didn't have so many already, I would have picked up this star hair bobble in both gold and silver, pony wraps are definitely the best way to dress up a ponytail in the Summer.

The last two items that caught my eye on the Missguided site were the trapeze floral dress and the clear envelope bag. You can do no wrong with a floral dress in the Summer, it's like a tie dye dress only more girly. Wear it under a worn-in leather jacket at night or belt it for the day, you can't get any more "Summer" than a floral dress. And the clear envelope bag? Well I've been looking for one forever. It's light, fits just the essentials, and goes with everything - perfect for a Summer party or festival when you want to carry as little as possible in the heat but still stay trendy.

  1. Lovely post!

  2. The clear envelope bag is so cute! I recently picked up one from Nasty Gal or else I totally would get this one!
