5 Ways To Wear Cognac Booties :: ONE Shorts & Booties

The lucky item of this week is cognac booties. Booties are one of my wardrobe staples because they transition easily from season to season and they go with just about any type of outfit. Now if I had to live with booties in only one color, cognac would be my color of choice hands down. Cognac adds warmth like brown, isn't as harsh as black, and plays well with casual and work attire. Need I say more? 

Shorts and booties are legs' favorite combination, so I pulled out my floral tapestry shorts which I am in love with and added a pair of fun tights for some extra warmth because we all know you can't wear shorts a la carte in the middle of January. I'm a big fan of dot tights, but I've recently discovered heart tights and they've since replaced my beloved dots; there's no turning back. 

To keep the focus on the bottom half, I chose a plain white lace colored blouse and added a simple green triangle necklace. Green, because it complements the jacket nicely and brings out the green in the shorts. Now I'm aware that many people don't believe in wearing red and green together, but I think when you choose the right shades and avoid Christmas reds and greens, the combination is brilliant - hence my choice of deep red for the hat and clutch. 

The cargo jacket grounds the outfit and keeps the look from being too girly. It contributes just the right amount of rugged without looking raggedy. The one I have on is from Old Navy, purchased two years ago, and has endured its fair share. If you don't own a utility jacket yet, do it! You won't regret your investment. I'm dying for this one here with faux fur.
