How many times have you sauntered to your closet in a begrudging effort to pull together a daily disguise only to have the process thwarted by a mental predisposition to your drobe? I have nothing to wear. Too many times, I'm trying to cut down. What I've realized well actually I've always known, just never acted on the knowledge is that my closet is double what it appears to be. How can that be? Re-re-re-remixxxxx. Have I gone crazy? No.
Well then, what do I mean? See picture exhibits above. What your eyes have deceived you into thinking is a houndstooth pullover is actually a houndstooth dress. Need a casual brunch outfit? No problem! Throw the dress over a bright pink blouse, yellow pants, and carefully fold the dress under to desired shirt length. Work wear blues? I'll swap you the pink blouse for a black blazer and the yellow for some opaque black tights and I'm good to go, well, after my bagel with cream cheese and hot cheetos. By the way, did you know that California schools are contemplating banning hot cheetos due to a serious lack in nutritional value? Perhaps it's time for me to reconsider my choice of brekkie topping.
'I have nothing to wear' has just become 'I have too many options'.
Versatility and functionality are perhaps two of the most important factors I take into consideration when I venture on a drobe expansion excursion. Especially now that I'm working, I have to keep a string tied to my finger to remind myself that I can't buy only fun, trendy pieces since a likely result is that they'll acquire more dust than mileage.
And this is where GiGi New York steals the spotlight. I recently discovered this New York based leather goods company while creating a queue of versatile yet fashionista-fit totes. I needed something sturdy, polished, but not boring. Enter the Embossed Python Teddie Tote in Eggplant.
USA made, leather lined, python embossed, and a wide variety of color choices? BINGO. In eggplant, the Teddie Tote would be a suitable work tote and could easily double up as my casual everyday bag gotta upgrade to a bigger bag now that SF is charging 10 cents per shopping bag.
If you've never heard of GiGi New York, you're missing out. Check our their leather goods next time you're in a Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, or online on JOOR. You'll appreciate the versatility and quality of their clutches and handbags. Plus everything can be personalized with your initials.
And as a special thank you, GiGi New York is offering all of my readers 20% off the entire site with code DISGUISE for one month! How awesome is that? I hear a new tote calling your name.
