Skincare Sundays :: Summer Beauty Essentials
My Summer Beauty Essentials:
1. Dr. Brandt Flexitone BB Cream
On days that I choose to wear some sort of a cover up on my face, BB Cream is what I find myself reaching for. It provides less coverage than a foundation but more coverage than a tinted moisturizer. But best of all, BB Creams contain skincare benefits and keep you looking fresh faced and natural in the heat. The Dr. Brandt Flexitone BB Cream is my favorite so far (I've tried the Dior Hydralife BB Cream & Dr. Jart BB Creams) because it looks the most natural while providing just enough coverage it feels the lightest (and I like light on the face in the summer because anything heavy and my pores just feel clogged) and Dr. Brandt doesn't test on animals! (always a must for me!)
Dr. Brandt Flexitone BB Cream comes in one color and adjusts to your skin tone.
2. Rosebud Salve Minted Rose
This stuff is a year round holy grail for me...well this and Lush's Lip Service Lip Balm. I prefer the minted version (over the original) for the summer because the mint adds a little coolness for the lips, which feels good on hot days. Plus, this one has a slightly redder tint which gives a very slight rosy shine to the lips - again, very natural. The only problem with this is that you have to be careful where you store it because it melts very quickly in the heat - so don't leave it in the car. If you are outside all day with it, store it upright (which can be a hassle) or it will melt everywhere.
3. Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner in Brown
LOVE LOVE LOVE this eyeliner. I have been using this eyeliner for about 10 years, which definitely says something about this product as I'm always searching for the next best product. This eyeliner absolutely does not budge once it's on. MUST HAVE.
4. Caudalie Beauty Elixir
I always like to use a toner or mist of some sort to set my makeup. It gives the face a more fresh faced look. In the summer I gravitate towards the Caudalie Beauty Elixir because it has a cooling sensation that feels wonderful in the heat, and it smells great as well! I have read that some people don't like the herbally, natural, minty smell of this product - but I prefer a more herbal natural scent in the summer. Plus, the scent doesn't linger on the face. This beauty elixir is pretty pricey though, which is a bummer.
5. Benefit Watts Up Highlighter
In the warmer months I always use cream based products if I can because I find that they tend to stay on longer than powder products. Benefit's Watts Up Highlight is excellent. It is in a tube form, which is convenient to carry, easy to use (swipe swipe - no brushes necessary), and sanitary (no dirty brush double dipping!). Not to mention the highlight color is right on point, an iridescent champagne pearl shimmer. This highlighter really gives that perfect natural glow - beautiful for the summer!
6. NARS Laguna Bronzer
Cult fave. But that's not why I like it. I prefer this bronzer over others because it's flattering on all skin tones it gives a subtle bronze (no orange) and doesn't make me look like I was a victim of tanning gone wrong it has a very slight shimmer (not glitter) which looks beautiful in the sun.
7. Lush A Million Kisses Lip/Cheek Tint
LOVE this lip/cheek tint. Of course I love using corals and pinks in the summer but my go-to look is definitely a more red/pink natural flush faced look. This lip/cheek tint is amazing because it actually stays put on the cheeks it gives the most natural flushed look a swipe on the lips will instantly brighten your face it's a dual purpose product Lush doesn't test on animals!!
8. Maybelline Illegal Lengths Mascara (Waterproof)
I have very short, straight, and stubborn lashes. This mascara does the trick and doesn't give me raccoon eyes, even after a day at the beach!
So that concludes my Summer Beauty Essentials for my weekly Skincare Sunday posts! Stay tuned for next week's Skincare Sunday post :: Summer Skincare Essentials!
